Bringing young people together through movement and music
In the neighbourhoods of Sunny Point and Latour, Move Forward brings young people together through dance, music and sports.

In the neighbourhoods of Sunny Point and Latour, Move Forward brings young people together through dance, music and sports. Started in 2017, the project has grown into two larger neighbourhood programs and a smaller initiative, working together with local partners Kansrijk Suriname and Stichting Stibula.
Local coaches work alongside Dutch coaches with Surinamese roots to shape the dance, basketball and music activities. By combining creative and physical disciplines, the programs give young people a space to express themselves, build confidence and discover new skills.
The connection between coaches in Suriname and the Netherlands is an important part of the project, bringing people, knowledge and experience together across borders. To date, the project has reached more than 200 young people from Sunny Point, Latour and surrounding communities.
